TATTERED IMAGE BLOG by Tom Lasko
WELCOME! This blog is for those who have some old and tattered family photos and want to know how to repair them. If you have graphics editing software—such as Photoshop—you are on your way.
• I use a Powerbook G4 Mac (OSX 10.4), Photoshop CS2, an Epson Perfection 2400 flatbed scanner, and an HP Deskjet 5650 printer, all of which are a good five or six years old.
• You don't need all the latest stuff. What you do need, however, is patience, persistence, and the pressing desire to engage in a magical exercise that erases the ravages of time and restores treasured memories.
• Even though you may only have a beginner's familiarity with graphics editing software and the wonders it can produce, you soon will be able restore your photos like a pro if you follow these posts on a regular basis.
• Do not be afraid to experiment with the tools and techniques that I show you. If you mess up, start over.
• Start your adventure with the post titled "Scanning the Image". If scanning is a problem, click here to download a high resolution copy of the example shown in the video tutorials.
• Remember: Beneath the surface of a battered old photo in a shoebox in your closet lies a hidden treasure. You just have to uncover it.
